This is the last page. I will write something more later. I will also upload a blank page later for the new readers not to get spoiled on the ending.
I’ve only been here for a few months, but I was hooked after the first few pages.
Thanks a lot for making this, I really enjoyed it!
awesome comic is awesome.
Great comic! Lovely ending too
You have got to be farking kidding me!
I find a pretty awesome comic, and it dan well ends the day I find it?
What are the bleep bleeping odds?!
Well, I feared it would come to this… It’s been a fun ride and ‘though I can’t shake the feeling it should had lasted a bit longer and many stories in that magical city still are untold, you actually rarely see a webcomic coming out of hiatus and beeing finished. So I’d like to thank you for taking us along this ride through your imagination and hope that someday you might feel like taking us for a ride in another part of that city where human imagination is what fuels the magic….
Please make another comic or a sequel or something! This was awesome and I’d love to see more! And just so you know, your drawings are special, your comics are special, you are special.
Thank you, all of you! Now to answer some things:
@The Occupant @Zaucroya there is another webcomic in the works, it should premiere not very long from now and I will inform you guys about it here and at http://kokonski.com . Also be sure to check out my previous webcomic http://kokoart.net/kokoart3/ , though it is rather different and different-looking than AQB. It also is not yet fully translated, but i will upload the remaining few strips as soon as i get the chance. Cheers!
Beautiful finish. I loved it!
Amazing!!! I loved every page than you so much for sharing. Whats next?
For a serious comic like A Quartz Bead you’ll have to wait a bit for when I have a bit more time for it- but I’m currently drawing a comedy webcomic here- http://sitmcomic.tumblr.com . I can still promise a couple of mysteries and unnatural creatures there, though!
Also: thank you very much for reading.
Just wanted to tell you that I really like your style, composition and storytelling skills. Another great thing with this story is that one can see how much you’ve grown skillwise through the years.
I really think Stick in the Mud is a worthy successor aswell!
Keep up the good work!
Hey, this is a really fun webcomic. Thanks for sharing it. I liked the ending, and how you left things a mystery in a lot of ways.
at least 8/10 in my book
Found your page thru the Scary Go Round archives from years ago… Great comics, wish I’d been reading them earlier! Well now I can go thru all the archives. Thx
This was a pretty great comic. Definitely different from the rest of your comics I’ve read. I fail to understand the meaning of the name though.
“A Quartz Bead” in the title is a phrase from Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. There’s a scene in the book, in which Richard faces a trial. He’s trying to maintain his sanity despite the world trying to convince him he’s insane. At a decisive moment he finds a quartz bead from a friend’s necklace in his pocket- proof that his memories are real and not a product of an insane mind.
Since Raina and Don Quijote are connected by Raina’s mental issues (Don Quijote “catches” her madness by devouring her shadow when she’s a child), they are both a “quartz bead” for each other- being close maintains the bond, keeps Raina sane and Don Quijote mad (but it’s the madness that created his knightly persona).
It seemed pretty cool to me when I was in high school and I guess it still does, in a way.
That is pretty cool
In the description here it says you’d “write something more later”. Does that refer to your other projects or will you at some point continue this comic?
What a lovely comic, absolutely loved it – Great colouring and characters too!
This is an awesome story. I like the heroine. Very neat.
A great story and some incredible art. I truly enjoyed the read. Thank you very much.
This DEFINATLY couldbe continued down the line

“One word…” Awesome.
Just binged thru the whole comic. Great comic! I loved the characters and their concepts. They felt very inspired and fleshed out.
I just stumbled on this comic last week. Thanks for making it, even if the making was years ago. I enjoyed the story and the artwork. Very much indeed!
It so need a sequel.
I love this. Best comic I have read recently. Thank you so much for creating this wonderful story.
Just discovered this after reading your other comics… I must say it grabbed my attention from the start and was excellently written and drawn… You may not agree but I feel this was your finest work… I’ll never think of Man of La Macha again without remembering this! TY
You continue to be an amazing story teller. Thank you.
Wonderful. Very talented artist.
Why, oh why, do I get the impression that this story, somehow, ties directly, into the story of ‘Stick In The Mud’?
